TRUMP PART 2:
THE RETURN OF THE CULT OF TRUMPISM
All three of Trump’s campaigns have depended upon explicitly racist, anti-immigrant sentiments. Since assuming office, Trump has waged war on all programs and campaigns for social equality and justice under what he and his supporters call “anti-wokeness”. Trump signed an astounding number of executive orders within the first two weeks of his term, ending DEI programs, disallowing any language that might read as “woke” from Federal use, unleashing ICE on cities across the US to detain anyone that might be an illegal immigrant, and ending the guaranteed court support and representation for children separated from their families as part of the ICE raids. Many many people have puzzled over Groening’s predictions in the series The Simpsons, particularly the one in which he quips about a Trump Presidency (March 2000). Groening explained that the joke “was consistent with the vision of America going insane” and a “warning to America to stop before hitting bottom”. In re-electing Trump, the nation has flushed its meds and pulled out its pickaxes.
